Oak is very well suited for creating furniture. If treated in the right way it almost doesn't shrink, it's strong, very durable and easy to work with.

It's common to find tables, chairs, TV furniture, dressers, cabinets and benches made of oak.

There are various types of oak. Furniture is mostly made of European and North American oak. European oak has some advantages, it's stronger, reliable and easier to work with. European oak is slightly lighter than American oak. American oak can have a rose glow when varnished, European oak becomes yellow (which can be prevented). European oak is slightly more expensive than American oak.
